CUIS was affected by Hurricane Helene and closed to the public on September 25.It reopened to day use visitors on October 6; Lands & Legacies Tours resumed on October 7. The park subsequently closed October 8 (prior to Hurricane Milton) and reopened to front country camping, day visitors, and Lands & Legacy Tours on October 12. All trails and campgrounds north of Stafford Beach remain closed to the public. A public hog and deer hunt is scheduled for Cumberland Island Wilderness November 5-7.
