Virtual Town Hall (VUMP 2026): January 21
This event has now concluded but you can watch the video below. Wild Cumberland Volunteers shared a clear, grounded overview of the National Park Service’s proposed changes and what they could mean for Cumberland Island’s future. The discussion focused on how these updates may affect wilderness protections, public access, wildlife habitat, and the long-term stewardship of one of Georgia’s most unique barrier islands.
This was a chance to hear directly from people who know the island well and are actively engaged in its protection. Volunteers broke down what is being proposed, why it matters, and how community members can stay informed and involved in shaping decisions that will impact Cumberland Island for generations.
