Cumberland Island Featured in National Geographic!

National Geographic recently highlighted Cumberland Island as one of the country’s rare still-wild coastal landscapes, pointing to its rich biodiversity, remote character, and more than 36,000 acres of marshes, maritime forest, wetlands, dunes, and undeveloped beach.

The article also underscores a growing concern for conservationists: rising interest in the island and proposals to increase visitation could put added pressure on the fragile habitats and wilderness character that make Cumberland so special in the first place.
